| Since when did we decide it was ok to skip Thanksgiving. I passed through a small town the today and they already had the lights up. Thanksgiving means good eats. I don't want to push it aside that soon. |

That, and the fact that people BUY things for Christmas. People don't spend nearly as much for Thanksgiving. |

Well, my guess is that since Christmas is so commercialized, it takes millions of man hours to prepare for and so they start earlier and earlier it seems. They probably also want to get consumers in the Christmas mindset so they will start shopping earlier. This gives the retailers an idea of how they will fare this Christmas season, financially speaking. It is also because consumers buy so much the day after thanksgiving, whether it is for Christmas gifts or for themselves. I myself shop all year long when there I find good bargains. It is too hard to get everything at the same time, both time wise and financely. Plus if I waited until December to get gifts, I would get too caught up in shopping and that would sidetrac me away from the true reason we have Christmas. |
