depends on the person & situation. but in this day & age of consumerism, i would wager to say that yes, it is statistically true.

Yes, it depends on the mood of the person. If the person is weak then I think there's tendency that the question you've asked is correct.

I think it is true that people spend more when they're sad. For myself, I notice that I have less self-control when I'm in a bad mood than when I'm in a good one.

It is absolutely true. When I'm down, I enter any boutique and purchase anything that catches my attention. The feeling of carrying a new shopping bag or bags home cheers me up. Shopping works better than ice cream, in my opinion.

Maybe some find shopping as their therapy. You can't really blame them, if they have the money and the time then why not right? It's their choice how and why they spend their money. Laughing
