With that many programs at that price, I've got to conclude that it is all shit.

| I have full version 6 and got this Essentilas version 7... It's not just shit, it's a cold shit. I don't know who have designed the interface of the Nero "Express"/"Essentials" (meaning "stripped down of everything of value") line of products , but I would gladly see this guy in flames. The interface is extremely bulky, unconvinient, counterintuitive, ugly and plain idiotic. I can swear they did it on purpose, to force people to buy the full version. Well, they've just lost me as a paying customer. |

| I bought the OEM version of Nero 6 from the same place, and it won't let me burn DVDs without buying a plug-in upgrade for something like $50. Is that still the case with 7? |

| Yeah, this POS program came with my Sony DVD burner and -- stupid me -- I installed it. A whole package of useless, crippled programs, not one worth the price that I paid (free). I deleted it and installed the free InfraRecorder program ... it's nothing amazing, but it's better than this Nero crap. |

| I have been using version 5 and 6 for three years and I have no problem. I use it with anydvd and burned tons of movies, Which on do you recommend if you are not using something else? Without instruction, it is difficult to use at first. I downloaded instructions from afterdawn.com and it is a nice program. |

Actually, there was one version of Nero that (to me at least) didn't seem to suck at all - 6.6
I've tried later versions, but have gone back to this. |

It's been hit or miss with me.
I like Nero when I manage to get a fully functional version installed. Sometimes it depends on the software version, sometimes it depends on the PC. I have version 6 that came in a software bundle(along with powerdvd and a ulead suite) with a DVD writer I bought a few years ago that works great.
It's good to have if you have software that requires the Nero engine like DVDShrink. |
