The local thrift stores around here always have bread machines galore. Bought one new in box for $8 and a used one for $2. I had friends who wanted to try them. The machines make passable bread, but, if you really like good bread, just use the Y Times no-knead technique. It's very easy and yields great results . It's all we use now.
