    Microsoft just announced today that they will be offering a year of the new Windows 10 as a free update for current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 users. They haven't given Windows 10 a release date yet, and it's not clear how much it will cost after the first year.

    Tomorrow Saturday, 1/24 only. Amazon just announced they will be offering 1-year of Amazon Prime for $72. The normal price of Prime these days is $99/yr.

    This is to celebrate the Golden Globe wins for their Amazon exclusive show, Transparent, which they'll also be streaming for free for everyone all day on Saturday (normally only available for Prime members).

    Google is now offering Google Earth Pro for $0 downloaded. This used to be sold for $399 a year. Provides close up high definition 3D viewing, planning, mapping, and measuring as well as data on demographics and traffic.

    It may require a couple of tries to sign up. The link URL mentions that this is a trial version, but it is still unclear whether it is limited or not.

    New Release. Today at CES, DISH Network announced Sling TV, the streaming service that will offer 12 live cable channels including ESPN, ESPN 2 and CNN for $20 per month, with no commitments.

    While not true "a la carte," it's the closest we've ever seen. In addition to the three channels above, the basic package will also include Disney Channel, TNT, TBS, ABC Family, Food Network, HGTV, Adult Swim and Cartoon Network as well as content from Maker Studios.

    Sling TV will be available on multiple devices, including iOS and Android devices, Roku, Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and the Xbox One, which will be offering one free month. It's expected to debut at the end of January.

    And as announced last month, HBO will launch its standalone service in April.
    Ends 3/16/15. Epix is offering a free trial of their unlimited movie/TV show streaming service. Requires free account but no credit card info is needed to sign up. Looks like they have a lot of big movies available, like The Wolf of Wall Street, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Anchorman 2 and the new Robocop.
    Google Play has The Interview HD Movie Rental for $5.99. It's also available to rent on Youtube Movies and through Xbox Videos (iTunes has decided not to offer it).

    In case you've been living under a rock, this is the Seth Rogen and James Franco film that has been at the center of the North Korea Sony hack. The film was pulled from theaters but it was announced today it would be available online.

    Google's rationale on Twitter for making it available: "Our mission is to make the world's information accessible -- yes, even Seth Rogen movies."
