Tatooine: Definitely Closer Than You Think

Insightful Travels and Tours just put up a beautiful photo series and short article about the abandoned Tatooine sets from the original Star Wars films which are still standing in Morocco and Tunisia.  The sets are still in surprisingly good shape, considering the movies were filmed over thirty years ago – as if you weren’t feeling old already.

A trip to the still-standing Tatooine sets would definitely make for a memorable (if not lengthy and hot) vacation and clearly you’d have the best vacation pics of all time.  Of course, the middle of the African desert isn’t all that easy to get to, but it’s certainly much more accessible than a galaxy far, far away.

I’ve got a co-worker from Tunisia. I’ll see if he can get me there!

    Nice.

Now if you could just find the abandoned set for Cloud City, I think I’d have a good summer vacation spot planned.
