Xbox 360 Limited Editions: There and Back Again

In light of today’s upcoming announcement of the new Microsoft Xbox 720 Xbox One, we’re taking a look back at the various Limited Editions of the Xbox 360, which originally debuted way, way back in 2005. Five years later, the Xbox 360 got a revamped design, known as the “S” or Slim model, which was glossier and 17% smaller. Microsoft has produced over 40 custom variations of the Xbox 360 (Original and Slim), known as Limited Editions.

In addition to the console with a custom paint job, Xbox 360 Limited Edition versions have typically included a custom controller or controllers and a game tie-in.

Some Limited Edition consoles have seen widespread release, while others have seen very limited production runs, such as The Simpsons Movie edition, of which only 100 were produced. As a result, some of these unique consoles have become hard to find and are collector’s items.

Before we take a look at 10 of the many Limited Edition releases of the Xbox 360 (both original and slim models), here’s the 2005 vanilla version:
