Xbox One hits stores November 22, Sony PS4 on Nov 15

Xbox One Versus the PS4

Earlier today, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One will hit store shelves one week before Black Friday on Friday November 22, with a price tag of $499.99. Specifications for the Xbox One have been finalized at last, and the processor will receive a 10 percent bump in power up to 1.75 Ghz specifically to help with graphics output. In fact, the first pallet of Xbox One consoles have rolled off the production line according to Microsoft spokesperson Major Nelson.

One week prior to that date, Sony will launch the PlayStation 4 for $100 less than the cost of the Xbox One. However, it’s getting more difficult to preorder the PlayStation 4 due to significant demand. Last month, Amazon sold out of all launch day bundles, the more expensive package of the console that comes with an additional game or hardware.

In addition, Microsoft released a statement today mentioning that all day one Xbox One preorders have nearly sold out. If both companies have issues fulfilling preorders in November, it could create a shortage of the consoles for the holiday shopping season. Microsoft is in a more precarious position than Sony as they will only have one week to restock store shelves prior to the official kickoff of the holiday shopping season which is November 29, aka Black Friday.

If you’re interested in preordering the Xbox One Day-One edition, Best Buy still has them in stock here. Otherwise, you will likely have to preorder a bundled version of the console at a retailer like Gamestop.

Is it just me or is the Xbox One grossly overpriced for such a small improvement?
