they've been $7 for weeks - i ordered three weeks ago at this price. be aware that because you're using AA's as D batteries, the contact surface on the negative side is tiny. i had to modify the spring in my maglite in order to get it to work with these (fairly easy). check your device to make sure you'll be able to use the smaller battery.
The problem with their D adapters is they waste a lot of space when you can get 2 x AA and 3 x AA carrying adapters on for cheap... when things that use D cells tend to do so either because they use a relatively large amount of current or else the extra bulk is so they can run a long time.
Personally I'd just get a two pack of Tenergy LSD NiMH D cells on instead. They do cost more, currently $19 a two pack but have 4x the capacity at 8Ah.
You may not have a charger for them but can rig a standard AA NiMH charger to do it with a dummy/spacer cell (piece of dowel rod or similar cut to size with a screw put in each end as contacts) and a couple wires going from the contacts then soldered to rare earth magnets you attach to the battery contacts.

Thank you!
