Still not up to 100 lumens per watt yet, which is kind of disappointing now that Cree has LEDs capable of over 200 lumens per watt. Even if the driver circuit is only 75 efficient that would allow 9W bulbs to produce double that.
You definitely get what you pay for with these bulbs. Cree are widely regarded as the best, Ikea sell cheap but not so good bulbs. These Philips bulbs seem to be somewhere in between.
What is guaranteed is that you will won't be keeping these bulbs for 22.8 years. The technology is still improving at a fast rate. All the LED bulbs you can buy today will be obsolete in 3 years and prices will also drop (just like computers!)
If you really need the best of the best to highlight your room's features then go for Cree, if you just need everyday bulbs to light an average room then these are probably an OK deal.
I don't think LED bulbs will become obsolete. I have dimmable LED bulbs in the living room that over 4 years old and I don't see the need to replace them.
I have G7 bulbs, which put out more lumens and perform well with LED dimmers.
