Tempting. I think I would rather have the 8GB of RAM though. Who the hell needs 2560x1440 res on a 13.3" screen? That's just crazy. Wonder what kind of hard drive comes in this?

Everyone does. The screen is a very important part of a users experience with their electronic devise. Tablet makers get this concept laptop makers haven't figured this out yet. This screen has a ppi (pixels per inch) of 221 which lags behind the 10" Apple Retina at 264. Every time I switch from my wife's Ipad to my laptop it's always a huge disappointment to look at the screen.

1440p is very high res even on a 27" screen.

I have no idea why people suddenly believe these ultra high resolutions on tiny screens are required. Past a certain point more resolution does you little to no good. You're just making the GPU work harder and use more power pointlessly.

You could probably switch out the screen to 1080p on this laptop and most people wouldn't be able to spot the difference unless you put both screens side by side.

Yes, relatively speaking 1440p is a high resolution especially on a small 13.3" screen but is well within the perception of the eye which is said to be around 447 ppi at 10". I guess the reason people suddenly believe high resolution is valuable is because they get spoiled by clear beautiful images off of their high res tablets then they switch over to laptops which are more expensive and see what they are missing out on. 1440p is overkill for people who primarily use their laptop for browsing or media but people who use their laptop to it's full potential will come to love the high resolution. Yeah 1080p is just about as good as 1440p but the vast majority of laptops are 1366x768, what a joke. I agree power consumption is will go up with the higher resolution screen but on the other hand the battery life with the Ipads is amazing.

Just because its within the limits of perception doesn't mean its useful.

The only sort of things where it'd vaguely make sense to have a resolution that pushes the limits of human perception would be reading stuff like X-Ray films and imaging forensics.

People, even specialists, generally aren't doing that stuff like that at all.

the LENOVO YOGA (IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro) is even HIGHER resolution of 3200 x 1800 and IMHO i way better because choice since the screen flips almost 360 to become a tablet. Also higher RESOLUTION means that the TOUCHSCREEN will be significantly more precise. The yoga has more sensitive screen even the (max)iPad ;)

alas the only tiny flaw is that the RAM is non-upgradeable and is soldered onto the main board.

here is the 8gb version... (BestBuy link for 4gb does not work...)

Screen resolution has nothing to do with touch screen precision or sensitivity.

You're essentially spending more for little or no improvement in using the laptop.

I find high screen DPI to be one of the most important laptop factors, moreso than CPU (if CPU is less than 5 years old), more than memory if it has at least 4GB, maybe even more than whether it has a slow 5K4 RPM HDD vs SSD.

Granted I'd be happy enough with 1080p on a 13", but don't ever want to use anything under 1080p no matter what else it has going for it.
