Ok. I'm game since my comment was apparently stripped. Again, not sure how this is a good deal. 9W power draw for 40W equiv. CFs are 7W for 40W equiv and cost is around $1 vs $5 for this LED. Granted CF life isn't 20 years but other than access to difficult fixture I don't see how this is a good deal.
The floodlight might be worth it, incan floodlights are costly for their very short lifespan in recessed enclosures while many of the CFLs take a long time to get up to full brightness due to avoiding or reducing the heater circuit so they run a bit cooler.
I just got my order in. These light bulbs are great. The A19 appears to be above a 40W bulb and more like a 60W. I'm replacing 60W bulbs with there. The 60W equivalent is more like a replacement for a 100W bulb.
These also don't have the lag time of other LED bulbs that I have gotten. They certainly aren't cheap but hopefully will pay for themselves in electricity saving. As during the summer not heating the house.
the ecosmart homedepot 2 pack bulbs is actually a better deal. They are brighter and 2 for $15, and use only 6 watts each. I did not notice that these bulbs will use 9 watts. I am going to return the 6 I ordered.
I'm quite happy with CFLs in most of my fixtures; the only limits currently are exposed candelabra base and motion sensors. I solved one motion sensor issue with a Sylvania Ultra led recently when it was on sale. That is also a dimmable A-shape bulb and produces equal light and color to a 13W CFL. Anyone able to compare these with the Sylvania? Still waiting for a suitable LED substitute for 40W flame candelabra bulbs and a BR30 medium spot (not flood).
I ordered and got 10 of them yesterday. My first impression, I love them with some comments. I have been using CFL, not the high end ones. My kids' rooms have the bulb replaced with these new bulbs. It's whiter and brighter. Both of the rooms have dimmer switch which I could not use since I got the CFL. Dimmer switch works with these. Things I found out 1) the bulbs get pretty hot. I thought LED will stay cool. 2)Dimmer doesn't work like 40% to 100% it's more like 80% to 100%. I don't know we can call it dimmable with that reduced range. Like other guys said it takes time for CFL bulbs get 100% brightness. These bulbs are 100% when you turn on the switch.
