    Special offers are rather harmless on a kindle. It basically makes your screen saver/ startup screen an ad, many of which are worth your interest.

    Ads on a tablet are annoying. One of the reasons I rooted my kindle and installed CM is I didn't want to see the ads.

    i thought the same thing when i bought my wife a kindle fire. why did i just pay 100+ for hardware just so they can bombard me with ads????

    It's actually a very clever marketing gimmick and I bet a lot of people take advantage. Personally, I'd prefer one without and pretend in my mind they are not tracking me online for ads sake.
