Wow. This is way cheaper than the Ipad I was looking at and double the memory. It's also by Microsoft so it must be better. Don't get scroogled!

I just saw a guy operating one of these on a plane, and it looks great. If you just plan to surf the web, take pictures, look at pictures, type Word documents and exchange e-mails, this is the perfect device.

IPhadpod much better specs. Oregon Trail is best on Apple products. Surface lose, but least inheriting Snakes game from Nokia. I love US and A.

That thing is a total turdburger with no apps whatsoever. If you really have to have a microsoft tablet, at least spend a little more and get a surface pro. It still sucks, but at least you can run legacy software on it, instead of being limited to an empty app store.

Wow. Microsoft must be desperate to get rid of these.
Must cost more than $300 for Microsoft for these tablets but can't expect people to buy garbage especially when the app store looks so lonely.

Yes you are right, not as many worthless apps, just a good unit to get things done.

i bet the 5-10 apps i actually use appear in the MS app store. all the other crappy apps who cares about? now if you are saying that developers are actively saying they are not going to develop for the MS app store then that's a different story. Just because MS app store isn't packed with millions of crappy stupid apps doesn't mean it still doesn't have useful apps and a few crappy stupid ones too.

I don't know about you, but Office 2013 is pretty much the best app out there for actually getting work done (depending on your profession of course). I actually own one of these, and you guys who are comparing it to an iPad are either 1) using your tablet for browsing the internet (in which case you can't use Flash-based sites) or 2) using it with iOS Apps. The surface can do those things as well, although I would love to have Chrome (which you can with the Pro) and there aren't as many apps (but it is getting better, and most major functions are covered).

But what you get with the Surface is a Real OS with a desktop, a file system, user profiles, command line interface, command shell (powershell), anti-virus (real time), native cloud file system (skydrive), native file system browser (explorer), File and Folder-level security, SMB-based network file sharing, true task manager (can kill/elevate/browse processes and running apps), true service/daemon management, task scheduling, event logging (OS, App, Security), storage management, performance monitoring, user and group management, file and folder level encryption, file history, and more.

Bottom line: If you use Microsoft Office a lot, you will love the Surface. Especially if you are a Windows user. And especially if you are a Windows 8.x user. If you are looking for a tablet for 1) browsing non-flash web sites or 2) running the PvZ/AngryBirds/Facebook/SnapChat/whatever app, then the Surface may be overkill.

Just my observations, as someone who owns iPhones/iPods/iPads and a Surface.

    Ditto from me.

I have the full Win8 unit (with Office installed) but 99% of the time I don't use more then what the RT provides (except for FireFox).
