I use this phone with this plan and it is a great phone or the price, battery lasts a good amount of time and the phone works great. Very good deal and at 45 bucks a month for a good plan much better than any other low end carrier with great coverage.
#2, there are at least a couple of other deals that are better for some folks, depending upon needs, such as:
- Virgin Mobile, Unlimited data and text, 300 minutes of talk, $30/month (if you pay in advance with credit card)
- T-Mobile, Unlimited data and text, 100 minutes of talk, $30/month (if you pay in advance with credit card)
My kids use Virgin, I use T-Mobile (I talk less - in so many ways).
#3, yes, I think you're right, the GSM-based phones have more "portability". My Nexus 4 (on T-Mobile) can travel the world, with a swap of the SIM card, whereas my kids' iPhone 4Ss (on Virgin) are confined to the US.
