I like that this site usually says "flash drive". Can we all agree to never say "thumb drive" or any of the other ridiculous number of names for these? I even heard someone say "zip drive" without knowing about the old zip drive that followed floppy disks.
^ I'm guessing the catch is the information on the drive about the plants, care, and design ideas favors the ones they sell. They do seem to have a presence at dozens of local nurseries near me.
^ What do you mean non-formatted? It has to be formatted, having a filesystem and files for them to put the info on it.
As far as infections go, if your OS has autorun disabled there is no chance it can cause an infection unless you run an infected file yourself which is the same risk as any other source for the (same) file. Run it in a sandbox if necessary, but it's probably just a PDF file or HTML.
