nothing wrong with the ryobi circular saw. have 2 and neither have any issues. don't try to use them with the old ni-cad batteries, ni-cads drain too fast, but saw is fine with these smaller lithium batteries. i don't really prefer to use cordless circular in the first place unless it's a one time cut. if I'm doing multiple cuts I'll just get out my corded saw.
A modern Ni-Cd pack has the same or better mAH rating and current capability compared to the smaller size 1.5Ah to 2Ah Li-Ion packs that this has (actually NiCd usually has higher current capability than this size Li-Ion cells) though it is true that old batteries and/or a cordless circular saw make for short run times.
That may be true Dave_C but NiCads bleed down when not in use so rarely are 100% when you need them. Their performance tends to taper off as they run down. I switched my old NiCad Ryobi set to Lithium Ion and the improvement in performance was very noticeable. No more NiCads for me at any price!
