Great mugs. Stay hot forever. Never spill, sideways or upside down.

Unfortunately, it's also nigh impossible to fully clean the mechanism in the lid. If you drink coffee with cream or lots of sugar or anything else that has suspended solids in it , the solids will accumulate and eventually lead to the closing mechanism not closing quite right. You can clean the opening, but the spring and the rest of the mechanism will cake. Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. Over time, those caked on bits will shed back into your drink leading to occasional chunky-style swigs.

At this price, I'd order a few so you can pitch them as they become gunked up.

These are great, I was always spilling a little with a standard cup but not with these.

@gwcomp, thanks for the heads up. I've been using one by thermos for years and it's a great product: http://www.thermos.com/products/vacuum-insulated-18-oz-midnight-blue-hydration-bottle.aspx

A little pricey, but worth it.

The Contigos can take cold or hot beverages so your comment is irrelevant and helps no one. Dummy.

the simplest way i know to clean a contigo is to add HOT water close the lid and and SHAKE IT UP them pointed in a safe direction and THROW THE SWITCH the now pressurized hot water will jet out

and honestly just soaking the lid helps a lot

On the Contigo website, replacement lids are available for $7. Shipping is flat rate $5. It might be cost effective to stock replacement lids since many
Amazon
reviews complain about the gunking.
